Heart disease remains the No. 1 killer of men and women in the United States. Experts say the best way to avoid the deadly disease is through a balanced diet.

A heart healthy diet includes whole fruits, vegetables, grains, nuts, seeds and olive oil.

Vicki Shanta Retelny, a registered dietician, shared some tips for heart healthy eating with ABC7 Eyewitness News.
