BECKLEY, WV (WVNS) – As December comes to an end, it Is time to start thinking about your New Year's Resolutions. Many people turn to healthy eating and dieting; but how can you make sure you are consistent?
Changing the way you eat can sometimes be difficult. You get into a routine, and it's hard to get out of it. As, New Year's rolls around you may want to turn your unhealthy eating habits around.
David Chinn is the owner of LA East Fitness Center in Beckley, he also has a meal prep service called, Healthy Eatz, to help people get in the habit of eating clean.
"Eating is our biggest disease, it is our biggest health care problem and it is not accidents on shoulders or knees or so fourth, it's what we eat," Chinn said.
Chinn explains doing a one or two week diet does not work, you have to completely change your lifestyle, and all it takes is some time and a good mindset.
"If you can get past that fifteen to twenty one days, you will feel the positives of eating healthy," Chinn said.
Chinn told 59 News, many people in our area say that it is hard to eat healthy when living rurally. In some places there are not many grocery stores around, but he said that should be an excuse. Living rurally is not getting in 82 year old, Tom Rapp's way, he was born and raised in West Virginia, he said he stayed healthy by eating from his garden growing up.
"It helps you all away around, you feel better, you will live longer, I guarantee you that," Rapp said.
People like Chinn and Rapp believe one of the best ways to start a healthy diet is to do some research. Find a healthy way to eat that best suits you, and makes you feel better inside and out.
