Taking away all those carbs from your diet could also be taking away years from your life, according to a new study.
The study, which was published in “The Lancet Public Health,” looked at the diets of more than 15,000 middle-aged Americans. Researchers found people who ate a moderate amount of carbohydrates lived four years longer than people eating low-carb diets.
Results showed people who replaced carbs with animal protein and fat from animals had the higher risk of an early death, compared to people who replaced carbs with plant-based foods.
But, don’t just suddenly start eating a bunch of carbs again. Researchers admit the study is limited, because people who took part report reported their own data, and it was two times over the course of 25 years.
