Meat products have been recalled by a leading online healthy eating business after concerns were raised over incorrect use-by dates, weeks after an investigation was launched into food hygiene at another meat supplier.
The Food Standards Agency (FSA) announced yesterday that the decision was made by Musclefood after an unannounced inspection of its supplier, DB Foods. It is the second time in three weeks that the regulator has announced a recall, after enforcement action against the meat supplier Russell Hume.
Musclefood, which is based in Nottingham, sells directly to the public via its website. It specialises in high-protein products ranging from meat and liquid egg white to prepared meals. Last summer it agreed deals with Sainsbury’s, Co-op and Spar for products.
